The California Catholic Conference announced "Radiate Love: Celebrating Marriage & Family" with a year of prayer and activity in all California parishes.
As a practical way to incarnate the grace of the Eucharistic Revival into our families and communities, the bishops of California have dedicated the 2024-2025 pastoral year to helping the Catholic faithful renew and deepen our lived experience of the Sacrament of Marriage – which is modeled on the irrevocable covenantal love of God for his people expressed in the Eucharist.
Under the title “Radiate Love,” every Catholic community is invited to participate in this initiative.
TIMELINE
World Marriage Day 2024 (Feb 11, 2024) – a “soft launch” preview of the “Radiate Love” initiative, with pastoral materials for parishes (homily helps, bulletin insert, prayers, and videos from the bishops) and social media for use building up to World Marriage Day.
Spring 2024 – Rollout of Radiate Love to diocesan leaders in various departments so that they can begin preparing parish and school leaders for the 2024-25 pastoral/academic year, as well as to the priests throughout the state by means of a homiletics webinar.
July 2024 – 2025 – the heart of the Radiate Love initiative will encompass monthly materials for parishes (bulletin inserts, homily helps, prayers, take-home activity cards, and videos), social media, and curricular recommendations for Catholic schools.
World Marriage Day 2025 – similar to WMD 2024, but with the addition of age-appropriate catechetical sessions targeted to individuals preparing for sacraments: catechumens, First Communion, and Confirmation… as well as youth ministry and campus/young adult ministry. An orientation and formation webinar for catechists and Y/YA ministry leaders will be offered in the Fall of 2024.
September 2025 (Feb 9, 2024) - A Marriage Summit in California
RADIATE LOVE - MISSION FOR DIOCESE OF STOCKTON- Integrate remote and proximate marriage preparation in Catholic Education, catechesis, sacramental prep, liturgical celebrations and everyday conversations.
- Celebrate and promote marriage as the vocation of a man and a woman establishing a partnership of the whole of life ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and nurturing of children in building the domestic church.
- Support families with prayer, friendship, helping hands, encouragement, enrichment resources, counseling.
