"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this
pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms
a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy."
- Sacrosanctum Concilium, 112.
Every month, look here to learn about a chant from the treasury of the Church's sacred music. These come from the booklet Jubilate Deo, which was promulgated at the wishes of Pope St. Paul VI in 1974 as the "necessary minimum repertoire" of Gregorian chant for the faithful to be familiar with. The list was expanded in 1987.
For September- the Gloria from Mass VIII
