Institution of Lector
The Bishop calls the men to this moment and special emphasis is given on reading skills, public speaking and homily preparation and delivery. In the remaining time of preparation for Candidacy the men will have ample opportunities for growth in Proclaiming the Word in their Parish setting. Our current Candidates represent the following parishes: Cathedral of the Annunciation, St. George in Stockton, St. Gertrude in Stockton, St. Joseph’s in Modesto, St. Stanislaus in Modesto, Our Lady of the Assumption in Turlock and St. Mary’s in Oakdale.

INSTITUTION OF ACOLYTE
On June 2, 2019, seven men who are on the Candidate Path to Ordination in 2020, were instituted as acolytes by Bishop Myron Cotta in the Cathedral in Stockton. It is the responsibility of an Acolyte to assist priests and deacons in carrying out their ministry at the altar, and as special ministers to give Holy Communion to the faithful at the liturgy and to the sick. Keep our men in prayer. Enjoy the Journey!
Part of the Deacon Formation training is to preside over practicums for Baptism, Marriage outside of the Mass, and various other duties fitting a future deacon.
On Saturday, April 13, 2019, at St. Stanislaus Church in Modesto, the group presided over and got married “one more time." It was a fun time but a real learning experience.
