Discipleship

At Pentecost, the Disciples and followers of Christ were in the upper room when a great driving wind came upon them. Tongues of fire were above their heads and they were speaking in different tongues. The Holy Spirit had finally arrived, just as Jesus had promised them. With this spirit, the disciples were able to spread the word of God to all nations.

Like the original disciples, all Catholics are called to spread the Good News to all the nations. Discipleship is a word used to describe the faithful who are called to be witnesses of Christ to the world. Catholics are called by God to serve as his disciples in a variety of ways.
 

It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go

and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name

he may give you. This I command you: love one another.
John 15: 16-17

Marks of a Disciple

Called by Christ
Respond with a resounding YES
Love other as Christ loves
Bears Abundant Fruit through their work
Obedience to God the father
Student who constantly grows spiritually
Follower who selflessly follows Christ wherever He may lead
Desire for Heaven and journeying on a path to Sainthood
Carry the Cross alongside Christ
Serve unceasingly with humility of heart
