Respect Life Ministry
Church teaching starts with the premise that
all of life is precious. Therefore, a crucial aspect of social
ministry within the diocese includes caring for women and
their families who are in crisis pregnancy situations; supporting
and developing healthy family life; effectively responding
to domestic violence; caring for persons who are dying; changing
people’s hearts about the wrong of abortion; and lobbying
for policies that would protect both unborn persons and those
who are on death row. These efforts include our special ministries
for persons with developmental disabilities. All of this must
be done with deep respect and loving concern for the woman
as well as her child. An effective parish Social Ministry
Committee will include this important outreach to women, children
and families.
