Liturgy
Social ministry cannot be separated from the
liturgy, which is the "summit and font" of the Church’s
activity. It is in the liturgy where the baptized encounter
the Risen Lord, whose body broken and blood outpoured reconciles
the rich and poor, saints and sinners to the Father and to
one another. The liturgical assembly is dismissed "to
serve the Lord and one another," to continue building
the Kingdom of God. Good liturgical celebrations praise God
at the same time that the baptized are nourished to fulfill
their call of loving service to their brothers and sisters.
The liturgy and social ministry committees must work together
to heighten the parish’s awareness as the body of Christ.
