To assist the Bishop in his role as principal
liturgist of the diocese.
To maintain responsibility to the Bishop for the continuing
implementation of liturgical renewal in the diocese in
full accord with Church documents and liturgical law.
To assist the Bishop with implementation
of the liturgical decisions of the U.S.C.C.B.
To represent the Bishop as a resource for
the preparation and coordination of diocesan and cathedral
liturgies, e.g. Rite of Election, ordinations, Mass of
the Chrism, and Liturgy of the Hours, at which the Bishop
presides.
To assist the Bishop by offering advice
on the liturgical agenda and documentation for meetings
of the U.S.C.C.B.
Responsibilities to the Diocesan
Church
To keep well informed
on current liturgical theology, official liturgical documentation,
and the directives of the Church.
To provide workshops,
lectures, practical training and other educational resources
for clergy, other parish liturgical leadership and ministers,
and parish liturgical committees.
To prepare and publish
a worship newsletter.
To publicize
diocesan liturgies and liturgical workshops through
appropriate channels of communication.
To maintain
regional and national membership in the Federation
of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions and other
liturgical organizations
To handle
liturgical correspondence.
Responsibilities to Parishes
To provide resources to parishes for training liturgical
ministers, members of liturgical committees and
others.
To provide resources
to individuals, parishes, and institutions requesting
assistance with liturgical issues or celebrations, e.g.,
dedications, anniversaries and blessings.
To assist in providing liturgical education for parish
catechists, school teachers, parish liturgy committees,
and others.
To provide consultative
services to parishes in the area of liturgy, including
clarification of liturgical law and rubrical requirements.
To maintain a current listing of parish liturgical leaders:
liturgy committee chairpersons, music directors, et al.
To provide consultation
and education for parishes engaged in building or renovation
of a worship space.
