DIOCESE ESTABLISHES REVIEW
BOARD
In accord with the Charter for the Protection
of Children and Young People, The Diocese of Stockton has
established a Review Board which will function as a confidential
consultative body to Bishop Stephen Blaire in discharging
his responsibilities.
The functions of the board include the following:
A. Advising the
diocesan bishop in his assessment of allegations of sexual
abuse of minors and in his determination of suitability for
ministry;
B. Reviewing diocesan policies
for dealing with sexual abuse of minors; and
C. Offering advice on all aspects
of these cases whether retrospectively or prospectively.
Mr. Clarence D. Knutsen, retired president of
Mayall, Hurley, Knutsen, Smith and Green, has accepted the
chairmanship of the board. Clarence and his wife Judy
are members of St. Michael's Parish in Stockton.
Other members include: Jeannie Carlisle, Social
Worker, Jane DeGroot, R.N. with experience in psychiatric
nursing; Patricia Huarte-Pechan, Consultant to public agency
managers on policy issues; Pamela Prime and Dave Kirkpatrick,
graduates of the Christian Institute for the Study of Human
Sexuality; Mary C. McNicholas, Physician Assistant, family
practice health clinics; Father Michael Pappas, Pastor of
St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church; Linda Quintana, Ph.D.,
Behavioral Science Coordinator; Jose Rodriguez, Attorney and
Executive Director of Concilio; Father Harmon Skillin, Pastor
of St. Luke’s Parish and Canon Lawyer; Brian F. Weber, Commander,
Police Division, City of Ceres; Douglass Wilhoit, Jr., CEO,
Stockton Chamber of Commerce.
