Training Information for Liturgical Ministers

We are called through our baptism to faithful participation in the Sunday worship of the Church each week. Some members of the community are further called to participate as liturgical ministers. All ministers are to be trained and to be commissioned through the blessings that are contained in the Book of Blessings. To serve as ministers, all are to be properly formed in their faith and ministry.

Diocesan policy states that all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and all Lectors are commissioned for two years of service. They are to receive ongoing training and formation throughout their ministry in order to be commissioned for an additional two years of  service. The School of Ministry can provide parishes with the list of those who are certified to do Lector or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training.
