Bishop Stephen E. Blaire has approved the use of the new sung parts of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal (Gloria, Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Great Amen and Agnus Dei) beginning Sunday, September 25, 2011. As a reminder, the spoken parts of the Third Edition of the Roman Missal are not to be used in Mass until Sunday, November 27, 2011.

The Office for Worship welcome Dave Corder as Program Coordinator. Dave will have primary responsibility for RCIA and LTP Annual Sales. He will also support the general work of the Office for Worship. He can be reached at (209) 466-0636, Monday – Wednesday.

General Liturgical News

The Third Edition of the Roman Missal has been approved. More information is available here.

The Rite of Penance has been revised in accord with the second edition of the Lectionary for  Mass and the emendations required by the 1983 Code of Canon Law. The newly updated rite can be ordered from the USCCB by clicking here.

The Spanish edition of the Ritual para el Bautismo de los Niños is now in its second edition. A new copy can be ordered from the USCCB by clicking here.

The Revised Grail Psalter by the Monks of Conception Abbey is now approved for use within the liturgy. The copyright of the text is held by the monks of Conception Abbey and is administered by GIA Publications. Once final editing is complete, the text will be made available for use. Because of the cadence of each line and stanza, the texts can be easily sung, chanted or recited. Paraphrases have been corrected, and the text is faithful to Hebrew imagery, anthropology, and sense of strophes. In addition, Christological references are retained and strengthened.
