Ronald's Journey to the Priesthood

My name is Ronald Urot Manango. I am 29 years old and was born on November 7, 1980 in Masbate, Philippines. After my high school, I joined a religious Congregation called Missionaries of the Poor, in Jamaica. I stayed in that community from April of 1998 to November of 2006. Then I left that Congregation and came to the US, and then applied to be a seminarian for the Diocese of Stockton. I am so happy that God brought me to Stockton and has given me another chance to study for the priesthood.

Ronald is inspired by this Scripture passage

My favorite passage is from the Acts of the Apostles 5:33—39. This is the  story in which a Pharisee named Gamaliel advised the Jews to leave the  Apostles alone: “…if  this plan or undertaking is of men, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God.” This is my favorite passage because this is like a personal advice to me since I was a religious in Jamaica. There have been many obstacles in my vocation to the priesthood. But  through it all, I believe without a doubt that this undertaking, this vocation of mine is definitely from God.

The Case for Christ

Ronald Recommends this Book

I was particularly inspired by the book “The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel. This is the author’s personal story retracing his own   spiritual journey from atheism to faith. It’s a book worth reading. It’s a fascinating pursuit for the truth concerning the most convincing event of history: the resurrection of Christ.
